Free Range heritage pork and black angus beef

Our heritage pigs here on Wells Farm stay on pasture year round. These pigs are slightly different from regular domestic pigs. The main difference is that they have less fat in the meat, which is excellent for the more health conscious consumer. These pigs only eat what they can find in their 20 acre pasture and swamp and are never handled by people. The heritage pigs do also have a slight flavor difference when compared to a regular domestic pig. When comparing the flavor from heritage pigs to domestic pigs it is equivalent to comparing dark meat with white meat.
For that reason we do also offer regular domestic pigs which are raised in pens in and around our main barn yard. These domestic are only fed grains and never have any added hormones, vaccinations or pesticides. All of the grains we feed our animals we grow right here on the farm along with the straw for bedding and hay for the goats, lambs, and beef animals.
Our beef herd consists of all black Angus steers. These steers are pasture raised with the heritage pigs all year long. The steers mostly stay in the swampy area during the summer to stay cool and eat the leaves and fruits off the trees.  All of the animals here on Wells Farm are available year round. However custom butchering is only available from November 1 thru March 15.
Custom Butchering is by reservations only.
